Phrases to ask how someone is feeling

The adjective felice (happy) doesn’t change according to gender.

The adjective triste (sad) doesn’t change according to gender.

The expression “giù di corda” (literally “down on string”) describes a general lack of motivation and energy.

Fare piacere
To express happiness or satisfaction in Italian you can use the impersonal expression “fare piacere” (literally: to make pleasure). It roughly corresponds to “to appreciate” or “to be glad” in English.
This expression has to be conjugated in the same way you would conjugate the verb piacere (to like, to appreciate).
